Bridget has been teaching at Vera Lacaze since July 2000.  She has been Director since 2001.  From teaching Preschool, Early Primary and Kindergarten in St George, Condamine and various Kindergartens across Toowoomba, for more than 35 years, Bridget has gained experienced in a range of educational contexts and year levels.  She has worked with her assistant Monica Timmins for more than 20 years now,  and they make a formidable team in the education and care that they provide to the young children and families that attend Vera Lacaze each year.  In 2017 Bridget and Monica and Theresa are teaching the 4 Day Kindergarten Group A in the Cassia Room.

Judy first experienced Vera Lacaze from a parent’s perspective with all 3 of her boys attending kindergarten and preschool. Judy began working as a special needs assistant at our kindergarten then as a teaching assistant at Vera Lacaze for more than 10 years.  After being surrounded by many inspiring mentors in the Early Education setting, Judy decided to further her career in this area and has since completed two Bachelor degrees in Early Childhood and Education.  Judy is excited to be part of the teaching team at Vera Lacaze after her long association with the kindergarten.  Judy loves her role as Teacher in the Callistemon Room and is supported by Tamara, Theresa and Leah.

Chrissy was introduced to the Vera Lacaze community as a relief Teaching Assistant in 2015.  She previously worked as an Early Childhood Educator within an innovative Kindergarten in SA for nine years.  Since relocating home to QLD in 2014 with her husband and twin boys she has been studying at USQ and working towards achieving her Bachelor of Education specializing in Early Childhood.  She officially joined the Vera Lacaze team as Teacher’s Assistant in 2016 where she worked alongside Judy in the Callistemon Room and embraced opportunities to take on the relief Teaching role throughout the year.  Chrissy is currently the Pre-Kindy Teacher in the Cassia Room, where she has teamed up with Monica; they are both looking forward to the adventures of the year ahead.

Chrissy comes to us with a wealth of experience working with highly qualified and excellent teachers and is demonstrating amazing ideas, creativity, knowledge and team work.  We are privileged to have her on our team.

Monica Timmins

Monica started working in 1997 with Bridget at Cambooya Community Kindergarten where she gained her Cert III and honed her skills with 3 and 4 year old children.  We were then fortunate to have Monica work as Additional Needs assistant at Vera Lacaze from 2001 and she has been a permanent Assistant working with Bridget since 2002.  Bridget and Monica love seeing the many families returning to Vera Lacaze as siblings or even as parents, of those they have taught over the years!

Leah Bishop

Leah’s first experience with Vera Lacaze was from a parent’s perspective with her son attending Kindergarten.  She completed her practical work experience for her Certificate III in Children’s Services at Vera Lacaze and has been a member of staff since then.  Leah has added experience and valuable skills to the team and we are thrilled she continues to be on our team.

Theresa’s experience with Vera Lacaze was from a parent’s point of view.  All 5 of her children have attended Vera Lacaze Kindergarten over the past 9 years.  Theresa started off as one of our regular relief teaching assistants.  Theresa has previously worked as a Lead Educator in a Child Care Centre and has done some casual work as a Teacher-Aide.  Vera Lacaze is lucky to have Theresa share her expertise as she is working in both the Callistemon and Cassia rooms as a teaching assistant.

Tamara Jobling

Tamara was introduced to the Vera Lacaze community as a relief Teaching Assistant in 2016. She previously worked as an Early Childhood Educator and Director within the Childcare sector for 5 years before moving to Warwick to coordinate and supervise the Family Day Care scheme.  Tamara returned to Toowoomba with her husband and 3 children and is thrilled to be the teaching assistant in the Callistemeon Room with Judy.  Tamara adds to the amazing team that we have at Vera Lacaze much to the benefit of her colleagues and our families.

Simone Hohenhaus

Administration & Enrolment Officer

Justice of the Peace – Qualified

Simone ‘s experience with Vera Lacaze was originally from a parent’s point of view when her two sons attended Kindergarten.  Simone has a background in Administration and has worked in various Queensland Building Societies for 10 years.  Simone has been employed as a casual Administration & Enrolment Officer at Vera Lacaze for 11 year.s  Simone is our amazing administrator and enrolment specialist, and she is the lady to whom you direct any questions or problems in the first instance.  Simone’s work days are Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday.

Janet Owens

Clerical Officer

Janet has been a parent of Vera Lacaze when her son attended Kindergarten and Preschool previous to her employment.  Janet has been employed as a casual office worker at Vera Lacaze for 12 years.  She is our master of maths and keeps the book-keeping in spectacular order.  If you have questions regarding your fees or your invoices, Janet is our ‘go to’ lady.  Janet’s work days are Monday and Thursday.


Many families continue to return with younger siblings to continue the experience for the children.  All staff continually upgrade their knowledge and understanding of current research and practice through organized Professional Development workshops, professional educational organisations, online study, Network meetings and contact with local schools so that children and families are supported throughout Kindergarten and for the transition from home to Kindergarten to school.
